Many people assume that yoga is designed strictly for improving flexibility and helping to de-stress by controlling breathing techniques. However, yoga is being used by men and women alike in order to become ripped. If you have been thinking about a low-impact way to improve your physique, various yoga moves may be exactly what you need.

One of the first things you need to realize is that there are different types of yoga. Some are designed to go slower while others are designed to go faster. Once you learn the various positions, also referred to as asanas, you will want to find a faster-paced form of yoga. If you are looking to lose weight at the same time, it may also be effective for you to try bikram yoga, which is a form of yoga done in a sauna-like setting.

High Intensity Yoga

Sun salutations, downward facing dogs, and more can be used to become ripped. Normally, when you perform these asanas, it doesn’t seem as like it would give you a better physique. And normally, it wouldn’t. However, when you take the Hugo positions through a high intensity sequence, it provides a tougher workout.

In many instances, you will stay within a single pose for 60 seconds or longer when you do traditional yoga. However, when you go with high intensity yoga, you may only be in a position for about 10 to 15 seconds before you move into the next one.

When you do your yoga, it is critical that you understand the correct positions and postures to be into each move before you go for speed. If you aren’t performing the asanas properly, you aren’t going to get the physique that you desire – and you may end up injuring yourself along the way.

Finding the Right Instructor

It may take a while to find the right instructor. Some of the instructors will want to go too slow. Others may be at a higher intensity level than what you can handle. It’s important to find someone who can help you to achieve your goals. More importantly, you want to be sure you are not working above your level as this is when you’re more susceptible to injury.

You may find very quickly that you enjoy doing the high intensity yoga over a standard cardio routine. Thus, as you start to see a ripped physique, it will only propel you to continue doing the various yoga routines.
